ROCHESTER, NY —

Junior forward Tyler Brenner of RIT was named the Atlantic Hockey Association Player of the Week on Monday, for the week ending Jan. 2, 2011.  It is Brenner's first AHA weekly honor of the season, and second of his career.

On Thursday, Brenner scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner with 1:19 left in regulation, lifting the Tigers to a 4-3 win over Robert Morris before 6,957 fans at the CONSOL Energy Center. Brenner added a power-play goal and an assist in a 5-3 loss to No. 17 Merrimack that snapped RIT’s 12-game home unbeaten streak at Ritter Arena on Saturday. Brenner is tied for third nationally with 15 goals. He has 15 goals and 22 points in 20 games this season.

The Tigers return to action on Friday and Saturday, as they travel to play Atlantic Hockey Association foe Army.  Both games get underway at 7:05 p.m.
