Maladora Named Goalie of the Week Again

RIT sophomore goaltender Shane Madolora was named the Atlantic Hockey Association Goaltender of the Week on Monday for the week ending Jan. 9, 2011. It is Madolora's second weekly honor of the season.
Madolora stopped 84-of-87 shots, in helping lead the Tigers to three crucial road points at Army over the weekend. On Friday, he stopped 38 shots in a 1-1 tie, then followed that up with a career-high 46 saves in a 5-2 win on Saturday. Madolora remains one of two Division I goalies not to suffer a loss this season. He is 9-0-2 overall and 9-0-1 in AHA play with a 1.68 goals against average and .947 save percentage. He is fifth nationally with a .935 save percentage and 10th in goals against average (1.99).
The Tigers, who hold a six-point lead in the AHA standings, host Bentley for a pair of games this weekend at Ritter Arena. Both Friday and Saturday's contests begin at 7:05 p.m.
