Plattsburgh's Emery Reaches 500th Win

by Staff Report/

With Plattsburgh State's win over Buffalo State on Saturday,  it marked coach Bob Emery's 500th.

In his 23rd season as head coach of the Cardinals, Emery becomes the 20th coach in NCAA history to attain 500 wins, and just the fourth to do it exclusively in Division III. At 500-156-53, his career winning percentage of .743 is the fourth-highest in NCAA history across all divisions.

Emery played four seasons with Boston College, graduating in 1986. He became head coach at Plattsburgh in 1989. Two years later, Plattsburgh won its first of two national championships under Emery. Plattsburgh won another in 2001 when it defeated previously-unbeaten RIT.

Emery is a five-time SUNYAC Coach of the Year, and his teams have made the Frozen Four nine times.
