Amerks Notebook: Spreading the wealth
by Mike Repertorio/Correspondent
In their last three games, Rochester found themselves coming away with only one win. But despite the two losses, it wasn’t all necessarily due to a lack of offense. Scoring a total of nine goals over the three-game stretch, twelve different Amerks collected at least on point.
Over the course of the entire season, Rochester’s regulars have seen a similar distribution of contribution. Of the team’s players with roughly 30 games played, most of them have at least 10 points.
And although the team currently rests in fourth place in the North Division, they still rank among tops in the league in goals for, with 114.
The Week in Review
On Jan. 4, David Leggio (Williamsville, N.Y.) led the Amerks to a 5-2 victory in the first game of the West Coast trip against the Abbotsford Heat. Brian Flynn, Nick Crawford, Kevin Porter and Mark Mancari were all scorers in this game. Zemgus Girgensons also scored, his third of the year, as he begins to heat up for a larger role once Marcus Foligno (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Cody Hodgson make their way to Buffalo. Joe Finley, TJ Brennan (Willingboro, N.J.), Hodgson, Porter (2), and Mancari (2) made up the crew that provided the helpers on the night.
One night later, Rochester and the Heat met up for their rematch, one that, to the discontent of the Amerks, ended in a 3-1 Rochester loss. Nick Tarnasky scored their lone goal and was assisted by Brennan and rookie Kevin Sundher.
Finally, on Wednesday, Rochester was back home to host rival Syracuse. The 5-3 loss, however, was not the homecoming they were hoping for. Luke Adam, Flynn and Mancari were the goal scorers while Evan Rankin, Porter, Finley, Brennan and Tarnasky all collected assists.
