Amerks continue winning ways

by Mike Repertorio/Correspondent

The Rochester Americans have been riding a nice wave lately, working their way back up the Western Conference ladder. This past week, the Amerks won three of their four scheduled contests, doing so in grand fashion as they outscored opponents 19-9.

With a 25-16-2-1 record, the Amerks currently rest in third place in the North Division of the Western Conference.

The Week In Review

On Feb. 1, Rochester played host to the Toronto Marlies. The Amerks would only surrender one goal as they came away with a 5-1 victory. Their offense was led by Mark Mancari’s hat-trick and supplemented by tallies from Kevin Porter and Evan Rankin. The goals were assisted by Nick Crawford, Porter (2), Brayden McNabb (3), Luke Adam, Rick Schofield, Kevin Sundher and Adam Pardy.

One night later, in Syracuse, Rochester kept the streak alive. With goals from Schofield, Crawford, Sundher, Porter and newcomer Patrick Rissmiller, the Amerks sailed to a 5-3 victory. Assists on the night came from McNabb (2), Phil Varone, Maxime Legault, Rissmiller, Mancari (2), Porter and Jerome Gauthier-Leduc.

The Amerks next trip sent them out west to play the Abbotsford Heat in back to back games. Rochester’s first night in Abbotsford, unfortunately broke their win streak. Falling to the Heat, 3-2, the Amerks got goals from Frederick Roy and Nick Tarnasky, assists from Jonathan Parker (2), Crawford and Schofield.

Rochester came back the next night, hungry for a win. And with an outpouring of offense (six goals), that is just what they got. Brian Flynn led the way with two goals while Adam, Porter, Roy and Mancari all added one of their own. Porter and Rissmiller each had two assists, and McNabb, Flynn, Mancari, Tarnasky and Sundher all had one.
