At 7:40 a.m. on the morning of July 3, the buzzer finally went off as the 40 players of the 11 Day Power Play team completed its dual mission of raising $1 million for Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo by breaking the Guinness Book of World Records mark for playing the world’s longest hockey game. Exactly 250 hours, 40 minutes and 3,422 goals later, the 11 Day Power Play broke the existing record that was set by a group in Edmonton from Feb. 6-16, 2015. The 11 Day Power Play, as of the final buzzer, raised $1.2 million for Roswell Park.
