It’s almost time for the 2022 NHL Draft.
This year’s class is not expected to be as robust for New York-area players, which we reviewed in our list of the top 10 first-year-eligible prospects.
There also are several second-year eligible players who were passed over by NHL teams a year ago but who have a chance to be taken this time around. Sioux City defenseman Damien Carfagna (Wood Ridge, N.J.) and Tri-City winger Jeremy Wilmer (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) had impactful and productive seasons in the USHL, and both are headed to Hockey East next year.
Although neither came out on the NHL Central Scouting final list, don’t be surprised if NHL teams are looking to draft them in the latter rounds after one more year to evaluate their pro potential.
