Brenden Locke and the Cornell Big Red can’t help but remember that day.
The sports world felt the earliest impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic over the previous day or two, but what shaped up as a promising postseason run through the ECAC Hockey and national tournaments ended that day before it even began.
“It was a crazy time, and it was very unfortunate that our season had to end that way with all the momentum we had,” said Locke, whose team was 23-2-4, had won its third consecutive Cleary Cup with a conference mark of 18-2-2, and sat atop the national polls when the 2019-20 season came to an abrupt end.
