There have been some recent commitments of area players to NCAA Division 1 programs in the past month. In addition, many players from outside the area committed to schools inside the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut region.

The class of recently committed locals is headlined by Blackwood, N.J., native Nick Fascia, a 2005-born defenseman who plays for the Long Island Gulls 16-U team. Fascia committed to Penn State University, and he’s a massive grab for the Nittany Lions.

Princeton University earned a commitment from Russian-born '05 goalie, Thomas Kiesewetter who currently plays for the Maine Nordiques 18-U team. Kiesewetter has spent the past few seasons competing in the Boston area with the Junior Eagles program and Thayer Academy.

New York Hockey Journal has a closer look at Fascia, Kiesewetter, and other recent commitments, analyzing the impact of each decision on the player and school.
