North Dakota sophomore forward Shane Pinto made it official on Thursday, signing his first professional contract and forgoing his remaining NCAA eligibility.
Pinto, a 2019 second-round NHL draft pick, signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Ottawa Senators and will report to the team following a quarantine period.
In two years, Pinto amassed 31 goals and 29 assists for 60 points in 61 games at UND. In both seasons, he led the Fighting Hawks in goals and recently was named a Hobey Baker Hat Trick finalist, one of three players up for college hockey's top individual award.
