Last Saturday was a special night for Quinnipiac senior Brandon Fortunato.
The defenseman from North Hills, N.Y., who spent the first two years of his collegiate career at Boston University, scored twice en route to a 4-3 win over his former team at Agganis Arena.
Fortunato capped off his first two-goal game as a Bobcat by scoring the game-winner with 2.5 seconds left in regulation, while an assist on freshman Daniel Winslow’s (Fairfield, Conn.) goal in the second period made it a three-point game for the third time this season. He was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Week for the effort.
“It’s nice that Brandon got the two goals and the winner, but I thought he was by far the best player on the ice,” Quinnipiac head coach Rand Pecknold said after Saturday’s game. “I thought he was just outstanding tonight. He’s had a great year, he’s been one of our best players all year, and (tonight) he was dominant.”
