The 2019 NCAA Division 3 Frozen Four is being played in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, but it still has plenty of New York flavor to it. Two of the final four teams hail from New York: Geneseo and Hobart.
Both coaches have led their respective programs to the season’s final weekend before, but that doesn’t mean it becomes any less special.
“This is what you aim for,” Hobart head coach Mark Taylor said. “Our program is at the stage where you want to win your league stuff, but the ultimate prize is to win a national championship, and you have to get to this stage to do it. It pays for the hard work and commitment. It reinforces if you do things the right way, you’ll get to this level.”
“The excitement to be around it,” Taylor added, “with a group of college kids who have done something since they were five or six, trying to capture something at the highest stage they’re at, it’s a fun experience to be a part of.”
