Eight players hailing from the Tri-State Area have been invited to the 2021 World Junior Summer Showcase.
The event, to be held from July 24-31 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich., will serve as an evaluation period for the selection of the U.S. national team that will compete at the 2022 World Junior Championship. The annual tournament will take place from Dec. 26, 2021, through Jan. 5, 2022, in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta.
Three of the local players invited to the camp were selected in last year's NHL Draft, while five of them — three 2002-born players and two '03s — are eligible to be picked in 2021.
