To the largely partisan Big Red crowd that overfilled Harvard’s Bright-Landry Hockey Center Friday night, the 2017-18 Cornell hockey team likely wasn’t reminiscent of past editions.
The well over capacity crowd was treated to a very entertaining college hockey game. Freshman Matthew Galajda made 35 saves for his third consecutive and sixth shutout of the season while junior Anthony Angello recorded his first collegiate hat trick. It all culminated in a 3-0 Cornell win over rival Harvard to complete the regular season series sweep.
A night later, Cornell downed Dartmouth, 3-1, to run its unbeaten streak to 10 games. Mike Schafer’s team hasn’t lost since Nov. 18 and is now ranked number one in the country for the first time since 2003.
