Sure, Damien Carfagna has a calm demeanor on the ice. The 18-year-old defenseman, whether he has the puck on his stick or chaos surrounds him, doesn’t get rattled. Because of that, he’s very effective. But beneath that tranquility is a blossoming player who has a passion to improve and a work ethic that proves it.
A rookie in the United States Hockey League, Carfagna had recorded four assists in 18 games this season with the Green Bay Gamblers, as of Jan. 21. And the 5-foot-10, 171-pounder from Wood-Ridge, N.J., is just scratching the surface of his potential.
