How Bransen Kinnear became leader of the Larries

Goalie Bransen Kinnear has the skills to backstop St. Lawrence Central to a Section X crown … and the team attitude that can inspire a champion

By Dave RicciJanuary 1, 2018

Imagine being on the brink of an athletic dream, only to be asked to step aside and let someone else carry load.

Bransen Kinnear doesn’t have to imagine. He lived it. But the way Kinnear carried himself says more about him than any championship ring or trophy ever could.

Kinnear, a senior who just turned 18, is again between the pipes as the starting goalie for the Section X St. Lawrence Central hockey team.

It’s a different view than the one Kinnear had last season, as he found himself watching from the bench while his goaltending partner, Rico DiMatteo, carried the team through the postseason and eventually to the NYSPHSAA Div. 2 title game.
