Just how good has Providence College sophomore defenseman Jacob Bryson been over the first two months of the season?
The London, Ont. native has been the best player for the ninth-ranked team in the country and has continuously been lauded by his head coach. His strong start earned him a letter on his jersey, being named an alternate captain in November.
“Jacob Bryson was the best player by far for us. Jacob Bryson was outstanding,” complimented Providence head coach Nate Leaman after a game earlier in the season.
Bryson is an undersized defenseman, standing at just 5-foot-9, but that doesn’t deter him when it comes to being a pivotal part of his team’s success. Bryson is part of the new school of thinking. Teams are looking for defensemen who can skate the puck out of trouble, retrieve pucks, and transition quickly from defense to offense.
