Arthur Kaliyev knows how to score goals. And he’s just getting started.
The 17-year-old Hamilton Bulldogs right wing is third in the Ontario Hockey League in goals (42) and sixth in points (83), playing in 53 games. This comes after a rookie campaign in which he totaled 31 goals and 48 points in 68 regular-season contests and three goals and 11 points in 21 playoff matches to help lead Hamilton to the OHL championship.
“Here’s an underage player who scored 31 goals and played on the fourth line last year; scoring 30 goals is not easy to do if you’re on the first line,” Bulldogs coach Dave Matsos said. “That’s how gifted he is.”
What makes Matsos smile even wider is Kaliyev is far from realizing his potential.
