The main challenge for a lot of prep schools at the start of this coming season will be making up for lost time.
Because a true prep season essentially was non-existent in 2020-21, most teams weren’t able to spend enough time together to build up the chemistry that’s so crucial to success at the prep level year in and year out.
Without a season, most prep schoolers went out on their own to find meaningful games. While a lot of them did manage to find some semblance of a season, it wasn’t with their usual prep squads.
Now, with things on track to return to normal for 2021-22, how will that lack of chemistry and a history of playing together impact teams’ play out of the gate?
For Kiernan Gately and the Highlanders at The Frederick Gunn School, that won’t be as much of an issue.
