LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — New York Hockey Journal attended multiple prep hockey holiday showcases during the weekend, including the 73rd annual Lawrenceville Invitational.
We were on hand to watch the full Dec. 19 playoff schedule, which featured several quality matchups. First, Stanstead won the seventh-place game in overtime against Choate. Then, host Lawrenceville captured fifth-place in an overtime win against Elite Hockey Academy.
Lawrenceville received noteworthy performances from ‘04 forwards Eric Vivinetto (Wyckoff, N.J.) and Justin Solovey (Holmdel, N.J.) on their way to victory. Vivinetto is a speedy, competitive winger who generated many scoring opportunities and collected one assist. Solovey is a big winger with impressive talents, and he also had an assist in the win.
Next, Northfield Mt. Hermon seized third place through an overtime victory against Taft. Finally, Belmont Hills won first-place over Nichols School, thanks to a three-goal performance by their first line of Ronan O’Donnell (Fairfield, Conn.) and Massachusetts natives Teddy Stiga and James Fisher.
