WAYNE, N.J. – Two teams of '08s competed in the futures division of the Liberty Bell Games over the weekend at the Ice Vault.
Playing in front of a dozen or so prep school and midget coaches and NHL agents, the '08s played two games on Saturday. It was just a part of the weekend festivities at the annual Liberty Bell Games, put on by longtime NHL scout Lew Mongelluzzo.
Salisbury, Mount Saint Charles, Kent, Millbrook, Trinity-Pawling, Frederick Gunn and Lawrenceville were among the contingent of schools in attendance looking to scoop up some of the impressive '08s in the futures division.
With most '08s entering high school in a few months, it was a good chance to check in on some of the rising stars of the birth year. Here’s a look at 12 players from the 2008 birth year who stood out to me at Saturday’s game action at the Liberty Bell Games. It wasn’t a large sample size and there are good players who I am not writing about, but these were the 12 that stood out to me from Saturday’s game.
