Lifelong Rangers fan Kevin Shattenkirk makes MSG his home

‘The team speed that we have here is something that I have not had anywhere else’

By Patrick McCormackNovember 1, 2017

Since entering the National Hockey League during the 2010-11 season, Kevin Shattenkirk always has looked forward to playing at Madison Square Garden.

"It’s one of those dates that you always circle," Shattenkirk said. "Not even me being from home — a lot of guys on my team enjoyed coming to New York and playing on a big stage. They show the celebrities on the jumbotron, little things like that just kind of really remind you that you’re in New York. It’s just one of those places that’s historic."

The New Rochelle, N.Y., native became a free agent on July 1, and the lifelong Rangers fan made the "World’s Most Famous Arena" home, inking a four-year contract worth $26.6 million.
