Hockey can be a cruel sport.
Logan Hutsko found that out the hard way the previous two seasons. Playing for the prestigious USA Hockey National Team Development Program, he broke his neck during his U-17 season and suffered a serious knee injury the following campaign.
In what should have been two key developmental years, he missed significant time. He played in just 11 games last season, his first year of draft eligibility.
"Last year was a tough year with only playing a few games and blowing out my knee," Hutsko explained.
The North Caldwell, N.J., native was a once-promising prospect out of Shattuck-St. Mary’s prep school. Despite his small frame, he was destined to be selected by an NHL organization before injuries derailed that hope.
