Brian Lonergan called winning a Clark Cup with the United States Hockey League’s Fargo Force against Dubuque this season “very special and unreal.”
It was Fargo’s second Clark Cup and first since the 2017-18 season. Fargo also set a regular-season USHL record for most wins with 50.
Due to a coach’s decision to play a more veteran lineup, Lonergan, who turned 18 in December, and two other younger defensemen on the squad watched the best-of-five series final that Fargo won 3-1 from the bench.
In fact, Lonergan participated in only three playoff games, with his last appearance coming against the Tri-City Storm in round two, game three on April 24.
