Mike Trimboli of Massena, N.Y., has been elected the new president of USA Hockey, the organization announced over the weekend.
Trimboli, who has been involved in grassroots hockey as a player, coach, official and administrator for parts of the last six decades, was chosen for the role at Saturday's Board of Directors meeting as part of the organizations' virtual Annual Congress.
He succeeds Jim Smith, who served as president for the last six years. He will serve a three-year term.
Trimboli began his formal engagement with what was at the time the Amateur Hockey Association of the United States (today USA Hockey) on the local outdoor rinks as a player in 1970, then in 1979 became an on-ice official and added youth hockey coach to his resume starting in 1984.
