Michigan claimed the first overall seed as the NCAA Division 1 Hockey Tournament field was announced Sunday night. The Wolverines will lead the 16-team field with hopes of winning it all at the 2022 Frozen Four at the TD Garden in Boston.

The other top seeds are Western Michigan, Denver and Minnesota State, which will be the No. 1 seed in the Albany, N.Y., regional when play begins there on Thursday.

Quinnipiac, winner of the ECAC Hockey regular-season championship, gained the second seed — behind Michigan — at the Allentown, Pa., regional. Other regionals will be in Loveland, Colo., Allentown, Pa., and Worcester, Mass.
