After a trio of local players were taken off the board in the opening round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft on Friday, numerous players with ties to the Tri-State region were selected in rounds 2-7 on Saturday.
Darien, Conn., native Scott Morrow was the first local player selected on the second day of the draft, plucked with the No. 40 overall pick by the Carolina Hurricanes in the early stages of the second round.
The 18-year-old defenseman, who's bound for UMass this fall, played his fifth and final season at Shattuck-St. Mary's in 2020-21.
