John Mozrall has a way about him that is different than most student-athletes.
He doesn’t walk with a swagger, yet he carries himself with an air of confidence that is difficult to define.
In this social media-fueled world where seemingly everyone is looking for instant gratification and so quick to tell the world how great they are, Mozrall is the opposite. He doesn’t brag. He just goes out and does the job with a quiet confidence that is rare among people his, or any, age.
"He’s so competitive that he will not only make sure he’s doing his part for whatever sport he’s playing, but also his teammates, because he’s so competitive," Section V Pittsford hockey coach Steve Thering said. "He just wants to win and be successful. I think that’s the way he’s wired."
A senior captain on the Panthers hockey team, Mozrall holds a unique distinction of going to the state tournament four different times in three different sports — hockey, soccer and lacrosse, with the three most recent trips coming less than nine months apart.
