Madison Packer has been at the forefront of a lot of growth in women’s hockey.
As one of the first players in the National Women’s Hockey League in 2015, the Metropolitan Riveters forward was a trailblazer in a league that sought to compensate its players. When the league fell upon hard times, she and her now-wife, NWHL Players Association director Anya Packer, pushed for more financial and operational transparency.
Now five seasons in, Madison was honored for her persistence and perseverance with the captaincy at the league’s fifth All-Star Game, held last week in Boston.
