When the buzzer rang to mark the end of Game 6 of the 2019 Kelly Cup final, the Newfoundland Growlers players on the bench hopped over the boards and bolted toward their goaltender.
They were the champions.
J.J. Piccinich, one of the ecstatic Growlers who took part in the mad dash to the crease as the crowd at Mile One Centre began to party, threw his gloves up so high that he paused to see where one of them went.
