Continuing the review of prep hockey action that began with defensemen and goaltenders, New York Hockey Journal closes out our assessments with the top forwards from the three games we took in last weekend.
Avon Old Farms (5-0) beat Trinity-Pawling on the road, by a 6-3 score. The Winged Beavers then followed up with a 3-2 home victory against Deerfield in front of a packed house. Trinity-Pawling (1-2) put up a fight, climbing back from a 3-0 deficit to bring the game to 3-2 before Avon pulled away. Deerfield (1-2) received the support of its student body that traveled a little bit over an hour to the game. The Big Green played physically and scored timely goals to keep the game close, but in the end, it wasn't enough to give them the edge over Avon.
Kent pulled off an upset over Salisbury, coming back twice in regulation and then winning in extra time. Salisbury (3-1) led 1-0 and 2-1, but the Lions (3-3) were resilient and pushed back before ending the game with an early overtime goal.
Here are the breakdowns of 13 forwards who provided notable games for their schools, and are listed for their potential to make an impact at the junior, college (and in several cases) pro levels.
