New York Hockey Journal attended three prep school games this weekend to evaluate local talent and came away with some positive impressions on competitors from the various teams.
Belmont Hill blanked Tabor 1-0, while Cushing Academy went on the road to shut out Loomis Chaffee 4-0 on Saturday. A Sunday rematch of New Jersey rival schools, Don Bosco and Delbarton, saw Delbarton come away with a 4-1 victory.
Our key standouts from the games included potential NHL draft prospects, impactful committed players, and some high-end future D-1 recruits. Dante Rodriguez provided the most impressive performance of the weekend during Delbarton's win over Don Bosco. Rodriguez is an '07 defenseman from Pequonnock, N.Y., making waves at the prep level. He also plays club hockey for the Connecticut Jr. Rangers U-14 team in the fall and spring.
Rodriguez and others showed well this weekend as area players to keep watching as the season rolls on.
