New York Hockey Journal attended the AYHL and USPHL playoffs over the weekend. The Ice Line in West Chester, Pa., hosted the AYHL tournament, while Olympia Ice Center in Springfield, Mass., was the destination for the USPHL. We focused on the top divisions in U-15, U-16, and U-18 at each event.

For scouts, playoff hockey is an opportunity to test the mettle of prospective players and study the consistency and compete levels of the players. For the competitors, it is an opportunity to showcase themselves at the end of the season leading into the junior drafts and tryouts.

Two players from each division are recognized for their strong performances in each event. The criteria for each player include being born between 2003 and 2006, from the Tri-State area, and, in the case of the USPHL, playing for a team that advanced at least one round.
