New York Hockey Journal’s uncommitted series continues today with a look at the best available prospects from the area born in 2005. Most of these players compete in 16-U leagues throughout the country, although a good crop of local ‘05s chose the prep school route in 2021-22.
The ’05 birth class is top-heavy with talent, and when the floodgates opened last August, several regional players made their commitments. Some of the most significant commitments included Aram Minnetian (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) and Drew Fortescue (Pearl River, N.Y.) to Boston College, and Sal Guzzo (Old Tappan, N.J) to Harvard. Minnetian, Fortescue, and Guzzo made the United States National Team Development Program U-17 team, joined by Ryan Fine (Center Moriches, N.Y.), who committed to Boston University in 2019.
