MILTON, Mass. — Seamans Media Inc., the leader in specialized sports media in the Northeast, is proud to announce the creation of its newest podcast, “New England Lacrosse Journal’s Chasing The Goal,” which is now live on laxjournal.com and several other platforms.
The podcast is hosted by New England Hall of Fame player Jack Piatelli (Brookline, Mass.), who has coached the game at all levels and seen it from the perspective as a player, club owner, businessman and father. He’s joined by New England Lacrosse Journal and laxjournal.com editor Mike Zhe.
The guest for the first episode is Merrimack College men’s coach Mike Morgan. Morgan, a two-time national champion, discussed a wide range of topics, including the changing recruiting landscape, what he looks for in players who may be his next recruits, and what lacrosse parents should not do.
The goal of “Chasing The Goal” is to provide insight, inspiration and information to players and supporters who would like to advance their lacrosse careers, whether that means making a varsity team, earning a scholarship or making the sport a career.
Future podcasts will address how the pandemic has changed the recruiting landscape in New England and the country; what players have done — and need to do — differently during these times to catch the attention of college coaches; and how to target the right recruiting camps and showcases.
“This is the only lacrosse podcast of its kind,” said Seamans Media founder and president Eric Seamans. “We’ve always recognized the tremendous amount of interest in high school, prep, club and college lacrosse in this region, and we feel we’ve created a podcast to address that and stay within our mission statement: ‘To inspire and inform amateur athletes and their supporters by sharing compelling stories and insightful advice to help further their development throughout their careers.’”
Seamans Media also produces three other podcasts within its podcast network: “New England Hockey Journal’s The Rink Shrinks,” “The New England Baseball Journal Podcast” and “The New England Soccer Journal Podcast.”
This newest podcast will serve as a complement to the company’s robust lacrosse coverage in its magazine, New England Lacrosse Journal; and its website, laxjournal.com.
The podcast will feature guests from the region and beyond who will provide insight, information and inspiration to listeners. Listeners can email their questions to chasingthegoal@laxjournal.com to have their questions answered on the podcast.
“New England Lacrosse Journal’s Chasing The Goal” is scheduled to drop every two weeks. It can be accessed at laxjournal.com and Apple Podcasts, Spotify and various other platforms.
Piatelli has been a driving force behind the region’s lacrosse scene at multiple levels. A star player at Springfield College, where he was an All-American and is a member of that school’s Athletic Hall of Fame, he played professionally with the Boston Blazers of the National Lacrosse League and overseas.
He has coached the sport at the youth, high school, college and professional level, and is the founder and owner of Piatelli Lacrosse, a premier Massachusetts lacrosse club dedicated to developing elite lacrosse talent at the youth and high school level. All three of his children went on to play lacrosse in college; Julianne played at Endicott, while John and Brian are on the team at Cornell.
“Jack Piatelli is the dean of lacrosse at all levels and one of the most respected people in the space,” said Seamans. “He’ll be the compass to guide our listeners as they chase their goals throughout their lacrosse careers.”
