Six New Yorkers have been invited to attend USA Hockey's National Team Development Program Evaluation Camp, it was officially announced Tuesday.
With invitations officially going out late last month, 2007-born players from across the country learned their fate in terms of having a chance to prove they belonged on the 2023-24 USA Hockey NTDP U17 team.
The six local '07s are hoping to join '06 forward James Hagens (Hauppauge, N.Y.) and goaltender Jack Parsons (Ithaca, N.Y.) at the Plymouth, Mich., based program in September. Four players from New York and New Jersey are skating for USA Hockey’s NTDP U18 team this season: forwards Ryan Fine (Center Moriches, N.Y.) and Salvatore Guzzo (Staten Island, N.Y.) and defensemen Drew Fortescue (Pearl River, N.Y.) and Aram Minnetian (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.).
All four will be departing the program for college hockey teams in 2023-24. Fine and Guzzo are headed to Harvard while Fortescue and Minnetian are going to play for Boston College.
