Trailing 3-1 to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the opening-round series of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Florida Panthers 20-year-old rookie goaltender Spencer Knight got the starting nod and shined in his NHL playoffs debut.
In front of more than 11,000 fans on Monday at BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla., the Darien, Conn., native stopped 36 of 37 shots to help the Panthers stave off elimination and force Game 6 back in Tampa on Wednesday night.
Knight was all smiles after the 4-1 win, taking in the moment during his postgame interview with his new home crowd chanting his name.
