On Dec. 9, the Utica College men’s hockey team took on Neumann University. Not only was the game an important United Collegiate Hockey Conference matchup, but also it was the team’s annual Teddy Bear Toss game.
For 13 seasons, the Pioneers have partnered with New York Sash to collect more than 30,000 stuffed animals to be donated to local children in collaboration with Operation Sunshine and Toys for Tots.
The game against Neumann was a televised, sold-out contest, and when Josh Haskin (Troy, N.Y.) scored the first goal of the game just over a minute in, thousands of stuffed animals rained down onto the ice.
