Throughout Domenick Fensore’s budding hockey career, his coaches have instructed him “to stay on task, never get ahead of yourself, stick to the process, keep playing your game and don’t try to do something else.”
Clearly, he’s listened.
A native of Thornwood, N.Y., Fensore, 17, recently finished his second season as a defenseman in the U.S. National Team Development Program, where he totaled 42 points (6-36–42) in 55 contests with the Under-18 club. Last year, he notched 31 points (2-29-31) in 61 contests with the Under-17 team and played one match with the Under-18 squad.
In addition, the left-handed shooter has seized the attention of scouts. In National Hockey League Central Scouting’s final rankings for the 2019 NHL draft, he sits 68th among North American skaters, a remarkable 21 spots higher than where he was slotted at the midterm.
