When Kevin Wall was a kid, he once gave goaltending a shot at practice because of one reason: his surname.

“My teammates said I could be called ‘Brick Wall,’ ” the 19-year-old remembered. So, what happened? “It didn’t go well,” Wall chuckled.

Instead, the Fairport, N.Y., native has made a name for himself in hockey as a forward.

This past season in the British Columbia Hockey League with the Chilliwack Chiefs, Wall finished second on his team and eighth in the league in scoring with 64 points (31-33-64) in 49 games. He then posted four points (2-2-4) in 11 playoff contests.
