For aspiring college hockey players who are going to be juniors in high school this fall, Aug. 1 is a date of significance. It marks the day that they can begin receiving offers and committing to play Division 1 college hockey.
There are a handful of area players who will be among the most coveted in the country when it comes to scholarship offers coming in on Monday. Most of the rising high school juniors are '06s, but there also could be a few late '05s hitting the open recruiting market.
It’s slightly more challenging to decipher all of the rising juniors in New York and New Jersey compared to New England and Minnesota, where players typically play for a prep school where their class in school is more well-defined.
