Goalies stole the show and new Fed champs were crowned. And that’s just for starters.
Lancaster, Kenmore West, St. Francis and Williamsville walked off the ice as champions as the Western New York Varsity Ice Hockey Federation and WNY Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Federation crowned their champions, March 25-27, as both leagues managed to make it to the finish line of the COVID-shortened season.
Players and coaches viewed just being on the ice as a gift. Skating off the ice as a champion was a bonus. With the NYSPHSAA tournament called off for a second year in a row, a sectional title carried even more value.
