The hockey world is wonderful in its ability to bring people together.
In 2011, Dan Ciampini was coming off back-to-back seasons of more than 80 points playing in Toronto, Canada’s largest city. Sam Coatta, meanwhile, was honing his skills in the small city of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. By the end of summer, both would find themselves in Schenectady, New York, taking the first steps toward building an unexpected powerhouse.
The Union College Dutchmen brought Ciampini in hoping he could continue to contribute, offensively, as he had with Saint Michael’s. Ciampini had similar expectations of himself. Both sides would have to exercise some patience.
