Why did you start playing hockey?
“My dad, Jeff, played hockey growing up. My cousin Jacob Burford (Grand Island, N.Y.) also played hockey, with the Buffalo Junior Sabres and Buffalo Regals. He’s four years older than me, so I followed his lead. I started with my town’s youth team, worked my way up to AAA, played AAA until 16-U and then I went to the Janesville Jets in the North American Hockey League. This is my third year in the NAHL.” (Doyle was traded from the Jets to the Johnstown Tomahawks in January 2019.)
Why did you choose to be a defenseman?
“It was given to me. It’s the position I started in and it stuck. I stuck with it because of my love for the game. I love competing, and I love going up against somebody and trying to beat him every single time I’m on the ice.”
