The COVID pandemic has caused chaos throughout the hockey world. Some leagues have suspended operations. Some teams are on a temporary hiatus. Most affected are the players.
The New Jersey Titans in the North American Hockey League provide the perfect example of how the pandemic has impacted players.
To start, the last month of their 2019-20 season and the subsequent playoffs were canceled, and at the time of the cancellation, the Titans led the East Division and had clinched a postseason berth. An older team, the Titans had a roster loaded with players who were headed elsewhere for the 2020-21 campaign, so it was a bitter ending to have their very real chance at a Robertson Cup championship ripped away from them.
