Passionate about hockey, Laura Stamm in the early 1970s spent many hours watching the New York Rangers practice.
A competitive figure skater turned figure skating coach, she gave lessons at the Rangers’ practice facility. Eventually, Rangers players Rod Gilbert and Brad Park asked Stamm if she wanted to teach power skating at their summer hockey school. She seized the opportunity.
Stamm never realized that those sessions were going to be the start of Laura Stamm Power Skating, a program that’s still going strong 50 years later.
