It took a few years, but left wing Ross Colton finally made it to the NHL, and now the Robbinsville, N.J., native is seeking to stick with the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning.
He was off to a good start at hockey’s highest level with nine goals and three assists for 12 points through his first 30 NHL outings as the regular season concluded, then chipped in two big goals in his first six playoff games as Tampa ousted the Florida Panthers in the opening round.
For Colton, the actual beginning was pure storybook.
