Forty-one local players are set to attend USA Hockey Boys Select 16 Player Development Camp this week in Amherst, N.Y.
The camp, which runs from July 7-13, will help evaluate the country's top 2005-born players and influence the selection of the roster for the U.S. National Under-17 Men’s Select Team that will compete in the 2021 Five Nations Tournament in Visp, Switzerland, August 16-21.
Mid Fairfield leads the way with 10 players invited to the camp, including nine from the Marty St. Louis-coached 15U Rangers squad that attended USA Hockey 15 Only Nationals in May. The North Jersey Avalanche account for eight local players invited to the camp, while the Buffalo Junior Sabres boast six.
Some of the top local names invited to the Select 16 camp include Mid Fairfield center Brian Nicholas and North Jersey left wing Quentin Musty.
