Middletown, N.J. — New York Hockey Journal attended Tuesday's NAHL East Division showdown between the first-place New Jersey Titans and second-place Maryland Black Bears. The Titans won the game 6-5 after scoring four unanswered goals in the second and third periods to come back from a 5-2 deficit.
Staten Island, N.Y., native Anthony Calafiore was the game’s first star, netting a hat-trick and one assist in the Titans victory. The 2002-born forward played for the North Jersey Avalanche before making the NAHL. He committed to Robert Morris University before the school pulled the hockey programs. The centerman will enter the North American League's Top Prospects Showcase next month, hoping to earn an opportunity with another school.
With the recruiting season in full swing, the NAHL is a Tier 2 league that has some available options for D-1 clubs. Here’s a quick look at the top performers from the most recent contest, including several players who have already committed to schools.
