Hockey can open a lot of doors. For Greg Koutsomitis, behind the door was a chance to go to school at a prestigious Ivy League school, Dartmouth.
After two stellar seasons at Millbrook School, Koutsomitis was offered a chance to play college hockey at Dartmouth. There wasn’t a lot of hesitation to commit to the Big Green. "As soon as I heard Dartmouth was interested, I jumped on it. It’s a great academic school. I never thought of myself as a kid who could go to an Ivy League school," Koutsomitis explained. "After talking to the coaches, we connected very well together. It felt like a great fit for me. My style of play will be perfect for the ECAC."
With his commitment in hand and his high school days in the rearview, the East Amherst, N.Y., native has moved on and joined the Jersey Hitmen in the USPHL NCDC. He’s made the transition seamlessly and is averaging nearly a point per game through the first handful of contests.
